Derbyshire is the honest-value county on the hot-tub map. 90 minutes from Manchester, 2 hours from Birmingham, and the Peak District walking on the doorstep. Prices run £160 to £220 a night for a private-tub cabin outside school holidays, £220 to £300 in half-term weeks. Darwin Forest anchors the map; independents around Matlock and Ashbourne fill in the mid-tier.

Three we would book

Darwin Forest Country Park, Matlock. Family cabin park in 47 acres of Peak District woodland, sleeps 4 to 6, private tub on Elite grade. Verdict: the reliable pick for a Manchester or Birmingham household. Price band £190 to £260 a night. Hot tub Y.

Sandybrook Country Park, Ashbourne. Cabin park with lake and on-site pub, sleeps 4, private tub. Southern Peak District walking from the gate. Verdict: the mid-week couples’ pick. Price band £170 to £230 a night. Hot tub Y.

Callow Top, Ashbourne fringe. Independent small park, sleeps 4 to 6, private tub on Premier grade, dog-friendly. Verdict: honest budget option with a working-farm feel. Price band £150 to £200 a night. Hot tub Y.

Three tips before you book

Avoid Bakewell on a bank holiday Saturday: the town is jammed by 10am. Book Elite or Premier grade for the private tub; standard grades often share. Pack layers year-round, Peak weather turns in an hour.
