A seafront lodge means the sea is visible from the deck and the walk to the beach is under 5 minutes. Many parks stretch the definition. Below, three that don’t. Salt-weathered tub covers are a real issue on coastal parks; ask before you book. Prices run £180 to £320 a night depending on coast and season.
Three we would book
Beadnell Bay Lodges, Northumberland. Cabin cluster 5 minutes from Beadnell beach, sleeps 6, private tub. Verdict: the empty-coast honest pick, worth the Newcastle drive. Price band £180 to £250 a night. Hot tub Y.
Blakeney Marsh Cabins, north Norfolk. Sykes-listed cabin overlooking Blakeney harbour, sleeps 4, private tub. Verdict: the birder’s pick with a working harbour view. Price band £200 to £280 a night. Hot tub Y.
Meneage Lodges, Lizard Peninsula. Cabin park 3 minutes’ walk to a small cove, sleeps 4 to 6, private tub. Verdict: south-Cornwall coast without the Newquay crush. Price band £230 to £320 a night. Hot tub Y.
Three tips before you book
Ask about the tub cover condition (salt shortens its life to 2 to 3 years). Check tide times before you arrive if the beach is tidal. Bring a wind-proof shell even in July; UK coasts turn quickly.
