Park review · Forest Holidays
Blackwood Forest sits on the Hampshire / Wiltshire border, 90 minutes from central London on a good day and just over 2 hours on a Friday. It is Forest Holidays’ most London-accessible park and books out earliest for that reason. Ancient hazel and oak woodland, 62 cabins across three grades, private hot tubs on Golden Oak and most Silver Birch grades.
Prices, itemised
Silver Birch 2 £890 a week off-peak, £1,340 school holiday. Golden Oak 4 £1,240 a week off-peak, £1,890 school holiday. Weekend arrival premium (Friday to Monday) £180 to £240. Dog fee £45 per dog per stay (up to 2 dogs on Golden Oak). Cleaning included. Hot tub included in Golden Oak nightly rate.
Our verdict
Worth the London-uplift for a Golden Oak in October or February. Summer weekends and half-term book 9 months out and pay a premium worth avoiding; mid-week autumn or February is the sweet spot.
One thing to check
Cabin number and orientation. Cabins closer to the A272 pick up light road noise at 6am; ask reservations for a cabin in the 20s or 30s (northwest cluster, buffered by mature woodland). Front-of-park cabins are the ones the marketing photography quietly avoids.
